KOBRA team at the Eurocup season opener in Holland
After many years, the Eurocup came to the Netherlands again and straight to one of the main centres of footbiking - Losser. The home stadium of Stepteam Twente, where Peter Groeneveld set a 24h record (e.g. 1000 laps within 1 second), offered a two-lap 500m sprint. Láďa Bartůněk did well there, winning his masters category, finishing third overall and setting the best time of the day on top. The sprints were followed by a relay, unusually as a team time trial over 3200m, where the Czech team with Lada took 2nd place behind the promising Dutch youngsters. The whole day was accompanied from the microphone by another legend of cycling, Maxime Reijne. A day full of changeable weather meant, besides racing, great meetings across many countries. The growing German group of footbike racers gives hope for varied racing not only within one country.
Sunday's long race on the undulating 2.3km long circuit was marked by Adriaan Ringoir, Tomáš Pelc and Patrick Olthof - all of them who were also featured in the main roles at the European Championships in Račice 2019 - fought for the second place. Láďa Bartůněk finished in the top of the pack for the 6th place overall and the 1st place in the category.
Kamča Šrolerová, a member of the Kickpoint Footbike Academy, clearly dominated the masters category and finished just behind Dutch seniors Fiona Olthof and Hermien Koers in both races. A very good performance for a warm-up.
